Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Pedri from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pedri is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga heavyweights are prepared to pay the big bucks to secure the services of the Barcelona midfield sensation.

Pedri broke into the Barcelona first-team setup at the onset of the 2020/21 season and has since established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe. Already a pivotal figure for Barcelona despite being only 19 years old, the Spanish international has made good use of the club’s crisis to establish a foothold in the senior squad.

But 2021/22 has been a difficult season for Pedri, who has spent more times on the sidelines than on the field, managing only six appearances across all competitions. The teenage sensation’s stock has not fallen one bit, though, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Bayern Munich, setting their sights on him.

The interest from Bayern Munich stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Corentin Tolisso. The Frenchman has entered the final six months of his contract with the German outfit and is likely to depart the Allianz Arena as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is coincidentally a target for Barcelona, where he could replace Pedri if he makes his way to Bayern Munich. But the Bundesliga champions will likely get the better of the pair of transfers, considering the 19-year-old is already regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe while having a higher ceiling than Tolisso.

The report claims that the Bavarian giants are prepared to invest a considerable sum to secure the services of the Spanish international, although Barcelona’s stance on a sale is unclear. Pedri recently penned a long-term contract with Barcelona with his release clause set at an eye-watering €1 billion.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona could demand a nine-figure sum to sell Pedri, but Frenkie de Jong could likely be their cash cow if they look to balance their books. Interestingly, the Dutch midfielder is also a target for Bayern Munich, and it will not be surprising to see a Barcelona player make the switch to the Allianz Arena in the summer.
