Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly expressed interest in Red Bull Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko.
According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Tottenham Hotspur are mulling over a move for Benjamin Sesko. The Red Bull Salzburg striker has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League giants as they look to reinforce their goalscoring options. They are yet to make any official attempt to sign the 18-year-old, but are certainly monitoring his progress closely.
In recent years, Salzburg have become the breeding ground for quality talents across Europe. Other than Erling Haaland, the club have produced a host of talented players in the past few seasons, including Dominik Szoboszlai, Karim Adeyemi and Amadou Haidara, among many others.
Benjamin Sesko is among the newest prodigies to come out of Salzburg’s talent factory, having initially made his breakthrough at FC Liefering last season. He scored 17 goals for the Austrian second division outfit and has carried that form into the first division with Salzburg this time around.
Although his tally of three goals and three assists is not particularly eye-catching, the 18-year-old’s 1.94m frame and his ability in physical duels has already led to comparisons, albeit rather lazily, to Erling Haaland. Many believe he could be the next quality goalscorer to come out of RBS’s talent factory, and it appears Tottenham have joined the bandwagon of suitors as well.
The Lilywhites are keeping close tabs on Sesko, potentially scouting the 18-year-old as a replacement for Harry Kane. The English international is expected to leave Tottenham in the summer amid renewed interest from Manchester City.
With just 25 competitive appearances for Red Bull Salzburg, Sesko might not be the most accomplished replacement for Kane. But at the age of 18, he has a lot of time ahead of him and the room to truly become one of the best strikers in all of Europe. However, Tottenham are set to face strong resistance from Salzburg in the pursuit of Sesko, as the Austrian giants are already braced to lose Adeyemi in the summer.
Moreover, Tottenham Hotspur are not the only club interested in Benjamin Sesko as the teenage sensation is also courted by both Barcelona and Real Madrid. So it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 18-year-old in his quest to take the next great leap in his career in the near future.
