Transfer News: PSG in talks to sign Paul Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in talks with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba regarding a summer move.

According to a recent report from ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain are doing everything they can to convince Kylian Mbappe to extend his spell in the French capital. One of their moves includes the potential capture of his compatriot and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window.

The report adds that Les Parisiens are in talks with the Manchester United midfielder, exploring the possibility of a Bosman move to Paris. Pogba’s current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, meaning he will become a free agent in the summer as things stand.

Manchester United have made their fair share of attempts to convince the Frenchman to prolong his stay at Old Trafford. However, the club’s recent struggle in the Premier League does not help their cause, and there is a general feeling around Old Trafford that they may have to part ways with the midfielder at the end of the season.

PSG are prepared to utilise this opportunity to try and convince Pogba to return to his homeland. Aside from the Ligue 1 giants, the midfielder has been courted by Newcastle United, while a potential return to Juventus could be on the cards as well. A move to the Allianz Stadium seems unlikely given the Bianconeri‘s recent financial and sporting struggles in Serie A.

It makes PSG the front-runner in the race to sign the 28-year-old, with Manchester United already scouring the market for potential replacements. The Red Devils were recently linked with a summer swoop for Federico Valverde, but their €60 million offer was reportedly rebuffed by Real Madrid.

Pogba himself has remained tight-lipped about his future, although he has been rather unfortunate with injuries, especially after an excellent start to the new season. Indeed, he had registered seven assists in the opening nine games for Manchester United, but an unfortunate hamstring injury has since kept him out on the sidelines.

It remains to be seen when the Frenchman returns to action anytime soon, but it is certain that he is set for a move away from Manchester United in the summer, with PSG emerging as the likeliest destination.
