Premier League interest in Alexander Isak keeps mounting as Arsenal, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are vying for his signature.
According to Fichajes, Alexander Isak is attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs, with at least three major London clubs vying for his signature. All those interested clubs are searching for a new striker for different purposes, with the Swede emerging as an important target.
Alexander Isak has made a name for himself after some impressive performances for Real Sociedad. The Sweden international has made it to the shortlist of many big clubs across England and Europe, although his huge price tag could become a stumbling block for teams outside of the Premier League.
Real Sociedad are expected to demand a huge fee for the 22-year-old who has a contract until 2025. He could command more than £60 million in this market, considering his age and style of play are appeasing many Premier League sides.
Arsenal have been one of the clubs leading the chase for the lanky frontman. Mikel Arteta has been accelerating his search for a new striker, with the Swede one of the preferred targets this month.
Their primary target is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, although negotiations to sign the Serbian have been difficult. Isak could be considered an alternative if the Gunners decide to call off their pursuit of the Serie A striker. Moreover, Isak could be considered a like for like replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Tottenham, who have struggled this season in the final third, are also looking at Isak as an option. Harry Kane’s loss of form has been one of the reasons for the Lilywhites misfiring in attack. But the England captain remains firmly in Antonio Conte’s plans and Spurs are expected to bring in another striker to complement their main man upfront.
West Ham United have also seen their name linked with a move for Isak, as David Moyes keeps his options open over signing a new striker. Michail Antonio remains the only proper No. 9 at the manager’s disposal, who may not be considered a long-term option as he is 31 and has a sketchy injury record. Moyes wants a player such as Isak to come in and compete with Antonio before taking over the role in the coming years.
As for Isak, he may look to leave Sociedad even in January if a reasonable offer comes from a big club. Manchester United were also touted as a possible destination, although the presence of many experienced stars may force him to turn them down if any approach came in. He could do well at either of these three London clubs and it remains to be seen if they are prepared to make an offer for the Swede.
