Transfer News: West Ham set sights on Ludovic Ajorque

West Ham United vs AFC Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction.

West Ham United have turned their attention towards Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque in the January window.

According to Foot Mercato, West Ham United are interested in a move for Ludovic Ajorque, who has impressed David Moyes with his good form in front of goal. The Strasbourg striker would provide cover and competition for Michail Antonio as the Hammers get ready for a tough second half of the season.

While a central defender is high on the agenda following injury-enforced losses of key stars Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma, the Hammers are also keen on a new striker. They have been linked with several names so far, although most top targets are seemingly available only in the summer window.

The Hammers have a tough second half of the season ahead as they look to maintain their push for a top-four spot and progress in the Europa League and FA Cup. It is a tough ask considering the size of their squad, and given their shortage of options in the No. 9 role, they desperately need to sign reliable cover for Michail Antonio.

They have been linked with a move for Torino’s Andrea Belotti, although he will likely arrive in the summer on a free transfer. David Moyes is looking at a prolific striker who could provide good competition for Antonio in the no.9 role.

There are also links to Barcelona’s Martin Braithwaite, although it’s unclear if a move could transpire. And the latest name to be linked is Strasbourg’s Ludovic Ajorque. The striker has been in good form for the Ligue 1 club in the past 18 months and could become a solid option for the Hammers if they pull off a move.

He has scored ten goals from 18 appearances in Ligue 1 this season. His physical style of play and ability on the ball when in possession makes him an ideal choice for the Premier League, and particularly West Ham. He could be the perfect cover for Antonio to help the Hammers across all competitions.

With a contract with Strasbourg until 2024, the 27-year-old might cost a bit more than expected in the current window. Considering the Ligue 1 side are vying for a Europa League place, it would be a blow for them to lose their main striker, as they will find it difficult to replace his quality mid-season. Yet, the Hammers can tempt them with a reasonable financial offer to lure Ajorque to the Premier League.
