Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly keeping close tabs on West Ham United attacker Jarrod Bowen, who is keen joining the club.
A recent report from Football Insider has offered an update on the future of Jarrod Bowen. The West Ham United forward has emerged as a top target for Liverpool. They are closely monitoring his current situation at the club, with the forward himself keen on a move to Merseyside.
Bowen’s current contract at West Ham expires in 2025. A January move away from the London Stadium has been ruled out for the winger, as Liverpool are unlikely to make any big signings this month. However, the player is likely to leave the club in the summer, with Liverpool seemingly emerging as a potential destination.
Formerly of Hull City, Bowen has been a part of West Ham since January 2020. Over the past couple of years, he has been an integral part of the club’s offensive unit, forming an excellent partnership with Said Benrahma and Michail Antonio. In 83 competitive outings, the winger has scored 17 goals while providing 20 assists.
The 25-year-old’s 13 goal involvements in the Premier League last term were critical in helping the Hammers secure Europa League football. The attacker has improved his tally further in the new season, notably bagging nine assists in just 21 matches.
Bowen’s contributions in the final third have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool among the clubs keen on securing his services. Earlier reports had suggested that the Reds were prepared to fork out €50 million for the winger in January. But it appears they are prepared to wait until the summer before making an attempt to sign the West Ham star.
The Englishman is likely to be considered as a direct competitor for the wide attacking duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. The West Ham playmaker himself appears to be keen on making a name for himself at Anfield, which could significantly boost his chances of making it to the England team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Regardless of Bowen’s availability, Liverpool could well make a move for a new attacker in January in light of Mane and Salah’s participation at the Africa Cup of Nations. They have recently been linked with a move for Todd Cantwell, although they could face stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.
