Transfer News: Arsenal, Tottenham face Sevilla competition for Dejan Kulusevski

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Sevilla are ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the pursuit of Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski.

According to Calciomercato, Sevilla have emerged as the latest club to register interest in Dejan Kulusevski. The Spanish giants are aware of the attacker’s uncertain future at Juventus, with the Italians prepared to offload the youngster for a fee of around €35 million. Kulusevski himself is keen on leaving Turin in order to gain regular game-time during the second half of the campaign.

Sevilla aren’t the only club interested in Kulusevski, though, as the forward has emerged as a target for Premier League trio Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

The two North London giants, in particular, have shown a concrete interest in the Juventus attacker, with reports in December claiming Arsenal were willing to fork out €30 million for the player. It appears the Swede has emerged as an ideal option for Mikel Arteta as he looks to shore up his goalscoring options in January amid the uncertain future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese international has fallen out of favour both on and off the pitch, leading to speculation regarding his long-term future at the club. Newcastle United have already established contact with the former Borussia Dortmund attacker, hoping to snap him up in the January transfer window.

Another club serious in the pursuit of Dejan Kulusevski is Tottenham Hotspur. The uncertain long-term futures of Steven Bergwijn and Bryan Gil have prompted the North London giants to explore the market for a new forward, with Kulusevski identified as a viable option.

The club’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is familiar with the player’s contract at Juventus due to his time in Turin. It could potentially give the Lilywhites the upper hand in the race to sign the 21-year-old, although the club is also considering other alternatives in the market.

Adama Traore has recently emerged as a transfer target for Antonio Conte, with Wolves prepared to cash in on their star player. Even Arsenal are exploring other options and have reportedly tabled a fresh €70 million bid for Fiorentina superstar Dusan Vlahovic.

While this recent development could give Sevilla the upper hand in the Kulusevski pursuit, the Calciomercato report adds that Los Nervionenses cannot afford the player’s €35 million price tag. They are open to a short-term loan deal, but that is unlikely to be sanctioned by Juventus. The attacker may ultimately have to stay in Turin for six more months before he eventually takes the next step in his career.
