Leeds United are interested in signing Todd Cantwell in January to shore up their midfield and attacking options, with Norwich keen to entertain offers.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United could approach relegation battlers Norwich City over a move for Todd Cantwell. The Canaries are open to offers for the attacking midfielder, who is refusing to commit his future at Carrow Road.
Todd Cantwell made an impression the last time Norwich City played in the Premier League and were relegated. The attacking midfielder had been one of the mainstays in the side under former manager Daniel Farke. However, he is yet to find much joy under Dean Smith since his appointment.
The Canaries star has only featured from the start five times in the league this term, with his other appearances coming from the bench. Cantwell has featured in just eight games all season, and it looks like he might choose the exit door over signing a new contract.
According to Transfermarkt, his current contract expires in the summer, although the club have the option of extending it by a further year. Nonetheless, Norwich are willing to listen to reasonable offers for the attacking midfielder.
Arsenal were keeping tabs on the player as Mikel Arteta eyed the talented attacking midfielder for his side. However, the Gunners might look at addressing more pressing concerns, as the attacking midfield position is covered well with Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard.
Leeds United have now entered the chase for the Canaries star. Marcelo Bielsa wants to bring in new players as they look to pull away from the relegation zone after a poor start to the season. The Whites are currently in 16th place, but results from the teams below, who have games in hand, could prove dangerous for the Yorkshire outfit.
The manager wants to have numbers in his squad after spending the first half of the season with a depleted roster. The many injuries that Leeds have had to deal with have threatened to derail their season. But their latest win over fellow strugglers Burnley might have been a source of optimism as they look to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.
Cantwell has been on their radar before during their Championship days. They now have a great opportunity to get him for a knock-down price as he runs down his contract with Norwich. However, Leeds may face tough competition from West Ham United if the player is put on the market.
