Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to offer out-of-favour midfielder Isco to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.
According to a report from the print edition of The Sunday People (h/t The Boot Room), Tottenham Hotspur are set to be offered a shot at signing Real Madrid playmaker Isco in the ongoing January transfer window.
Isco has endured a drastic fall from grace at Real Madrid over the past couple of years. Having enjoyed plenty of success in the first half of his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu, the former Malaga midfielder has struggled to carve out a place for himself in recent seasons and has become surplus to requirements.
The 29-year-old had been linked with an exit in the summer but decided to stay on in the hope of rekindling his career under Carlo Ancelotti. However, things have not panned out as planned for the Spaniard, who has hardly received any meaningful game-time this term, with the Italian tactician wanting him out of the club.
Isco’s current contract with Real Madrid runs out at the end of the season, and the midfielder is prepared to wait it out till then to move on. But, Los Blancos are hoping to get some cash from his sale and are now preparing to offer him to clubs across Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur.
The Lilywhites, after a shaky start to the season, are back on the right track under new manager Antonio Conte. The north Londoners have been able to string together a positive run of results that has put them back in contention for a top-four finish. And, in order for them to continue this push, some reinforcements in January will be needed.
Tottenham are seemingly ready to part ways with Dele Alli in the January transfer window, with there being interest from some Premier League clubs. Tanguy Ndombele could also be moved on after struggling to make an impression under yet another manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The departures of Alli and Ndombele would create a vacancy for Tottenham to bring in a creative midfielder to their ranks. Isco, given his experience at the highest level, can be an option worth considering for the Lilywhites. Real Madrid are ready to offer the ex-Malaga wonderkid to the north London giants in exchange for a fee of £5 million plus add-ons.
However, given how little he has played in recent times and the negligible impact he has made when given a chance, Tottenham would be better off not signing Isco.
