Borussia Dortmund vs Sturm Graz: Preview and Prediction.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keen on signing Spanish defensive prodigy Mika Marmol on loan from Barcelona in January.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Mika Marmol has become a key target for Borussia Dortmund in the ongoing January transfer window. The Bundesliga giants are keen on signing the Barcelona B defender on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.

Mika Marmol joined Barcelona from Jabac Terrassa in July 2018 and has since made significant progress in his career. Now a fixture at the heart of the Barcelona B backline, the 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Spain.

To date, Marmol has turned out 44 times for Barcelona B, chipping in with three goals and one assist in the process. However, the Spanish defensive prodigy is frustrated with the lack of a clear pathway to first-team football at the club and could seek a move away from the club. This has captured the attention of Borussia Dortmund.

The interest from Dortmund makes a world of sense, considering Manuel Akanji is a long-term absentee due to a knee injury. In addition, Marin Pongracic has been a dud since arriving on a season-long loan deal from Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg last summer.

Dortmund could do with adding a centre-back in the January transfer window, making Marmol a viable target. To that end, the Bundesliga giants are preparing an offer to sign the 20-year-old prodigy from Barcelona on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.

However, the Catalan heavyweights are undecided on whether they will accept the proposal of a loan deal with an option to buy him in the summer. Barcelona could also keep hold of Marmol instead of parting with him if they do not have much luck signing a centre-back.

As for Marmol, the young defensive prodigy is in a similar predicament as central defensive partner Arnau Comas, who has been targetted by another European giant in Chelsea. It remains to be seen if the 20-year-old makes his way to the Bundesliga by joining Dortmund or stays put at Barcelona instead.
