Barcelona contract rebel Ousmane Dembele has reportedly started talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Ousmane Dembele has entered into negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential free transfer in the summer after rejecting Barcelona’s latest contract proposal.

A Barcelona player since the summer of 2017, Dembele arrived at the club with huge promise after enjoying a stellar season at Borussia Dortmund. However, he has been unable to showcase that level of performance on a consistent basis at Camp Nou, with recurring injury problems hampering his development.

As a result, in his four-and-a-half-year stint with the Catalan giants, Dembele has missed nearly as many games as he has featured in, while hardly being a consistent source of goals. Despite that, the Frenchman is held in high regard by the club’s management, who were keen on handing him a new deal as soon as he entered the final year of his current contract earlier in the summer.

Talks over a new deal dragged on till December, only to fall through earlier this week after the 2018 FIFA World Cup demanded an outrageous deal worth €40 million a year along with a signing-on fee of the same value. With Barcelona in no position to meet those demands, talks over an extension have broken down, and the 24-year-old is expected to be on his way out of the club in the near future.

PSG, to that end, have now emerged as a potential destination for Dembele. The Parisian giants had recently shown an interest in luring the speedster back to France. With talks with Barcelona now completely ruptured, they are ready to pounce on the opportunity and sign him up on a Bosman deal next year.

And, as per the report mentioned above, Les Parisiens have already begun talks with Dembele’s camp over a transfer as they look to reunite him with former Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi at Parc des Princes in the summer. However, PSG will have to stave off interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United in pursuit of the ex-Rennes wonderkid.

Furthermore, Juventus are also believed to be in the mix for the signing of the French international, with reports even claiming that there is an agreement in principle between Dembele and the Bianconeri. An interesting next few months await the 24-year-old, who seems to be on his way out of Camp Nou in six months.
