Transfer News: Real Madrid offered chance to sign Alex Sandro

Real Madrid have reportedly been offered a chance to sign Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro from Juventus.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Real Madrid have been given an opportunity to secure the services of Alex Sandro, with Juventus keen on offloading the Brazilian defender.

The 30-year-old has been with the Bianconeri since 2015, having arrived from FC Porto. He has been a permanent fixture in the lineup for most of his stint in Turin, racking up 255 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and registering 30 assists.

While he has been regular in the side this term, there are growing concerns over the level of his performances which have slightly declined. And, as a result, the Serie A giants are now looking to offload him, given that there are only 18 months left on his contract.

And, as per the report mentioned above, Real Madrid have been offered a chance to sign the Brazilian international. The Spanish giants are set to lose long-serving defender Marcelo when his contract runs out at the end of the season. The veteran left-back has been linked with a return to his homeland, while there have been speculations that he may end up retiring altogether.

Such a scenario would require Los Blancos to bring in a new left-back to compete with and provide cover for Ferland Mendy. While youngster Miguel Gutierrez is an option at the club’s disposal, manager Carlo Ancelotti has not shown a lot of faith in him, leading to question marks over his future as well.

The situation has led to the Merengues looking at the transfer market for a new left-back. There have been links with Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, but they will face competition from Manchester City and Liverpool in his pursuit.

Real Madrid have shown an interest in Alex Sandro as well, and now they have been given a chance to sign the 30-year-old from Juventus. A vastly experienced customer, the Brazilian would be a handy replacement for Marcelo and offer more defensive solidity than his compatriot.

However, as iterated earlier, his performances have been on the wane of late, although a change of scenery could spark a turnaround. It now remains to be seen if the La Liga leaders take the opportunity to sign him up or decide to look elsewhere.
