Liverpool have reportedly formally ended their interest in Casemiro and have rejected the chance to sign the Real Madrid midfielder.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Casemiro is no longer considered a key target for Liverpool. The Reds have not only ended their interest in the Real Madrid midfielder but have also rebuffed the opportunity to secure his services.
Casemiro has established himself as one of the greatest modern-day midfielders for Real Madrid since making his breakthrough in the 2015/16 season. The Brazilian international has stitched a formidable partnership along with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, with the trio playing pivotal roles in the success Los Blancos have achieved in recent years.
To date, the 29-year-old has made 309 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with 30 goals and 27 assists in the process. Casemiro’s status as one of the best midfielders in Europe has constantly kept some of the biggest clubs in Europe interested in him, with Liverpool reportedly being one of his previous suitors.
However, the Reds do not need to sign a defensive midfielder, as Fabinho has gone from strength to strength since arriving from AS Monaco a few years ago. Even when the Brazilian is unavailable, Jordan Henderson fills in as an able backup option at the base of the Liverpool midfield.
With Tyler Morton primed for big things, Liverpool should focus on bolstering other positions in their squad instead of signing someone like Casemiro. So, it makes sense that, according to El Nacional, the Premier League heavyweights have ended their interest in the Real Madrid star.
The Merseyside giants were even offered the chance to sign the 29-year-old, but they have rebuffed the approach. So, Casemiro will need to turn his attention elsewhere if he decides to leave Real Madrid. The Brazilian has been heavily linked with Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea.
In addition, the Brazilian midfielder has also held talks with Paris Saint-Germain, meaning he will likely have plenty of options to choose from if he were to leave Real Madrid. However, one thing that is certain is that Casemiro will not be joining Liverpool anytime soon.
