Transfer News: Tottenham starlet Bryan Gil on Real Sociedad radar

SSC Napoli vs US Lecce: Preview and Prediction as the Serie A leaders look to strengthen their hold on the summit.

Tottenham starlet Bryan Gil could be on his way back to La Liga despite only joining the club in the summer, amid rising interest from Real Sociedad.

According to El Desmarque, Bryan Gil is attracting interest from La Liga despite only leaving Spain in the summer to join Tottenham. The youngster could be back in his homeland in January as Real Sociedad become the latest team to express an interest.

Gil is one of the most highly-rated players in his homeland and is considered a future star for the Spanish national side. Once courted by Barcelona and Real Madrid for his impressive development at Sevilla, the 20-year-old sprung a surprise by deciding on a move to the Premier League last summer.

Tottenham paid a reasonable fee to sign the youngster, with Erik Lamela going the other way in a part-exchange deal. Gil is yet to make his mark in a Spurs shirt after making sporadic appearances, mostly in the UEFA Europa Conference League and cup ties under former manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, the youngster may not get valuable playing time under new boss Antonio Conte, as the Italian prefers to play with established options at his disposal.

It could prompt Gil to seek valuable playing time needed for his development. As he has fallen short on his acclimatisation to the Premier League, a move back to Spain would make sense. The winger’s Former club Sevilla are prepared to welcome him back if an opportunity arises. Barcelona, too, have also shown an interest, although it’s unclear what sort of money Tottenham will demand for the player.

Real Sociedad have emerged in the race to sign Gil in January to strengthen their options in attack. Their attraction is linked with Barcelona’s reported interest in Adnan Januzaj, who will also be out of contract with La Real at the end of the season.

However, since Barcelona are set to secure the signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City, they might cool their interest in Januzaj, which could hamper any possible move for Gil to Sociedad. However, the La Liga side could be open to bringing the 20-year-old on loan if an opportunity presented itself.

As for his current club, Tottenham might consider him more of a player for the future and could sanction a temporary move away from north London. The north Londoners might prefer for Gil to stay put in the Premier League as it would help him adapt to the rigours of English football. But they could be open to letting him return to Spain if it helps his development with regular game-time.
