Transfer News: Manchester United star Anthony Martial keen on Sevilla move

Anthony Martial is expected to leave Manchester United in January, with the forward keen on a move to Sevilla despite widespread interest from elsewhere.

According to Sky Sports, Anthony Martial is keen to join Sevilla in the January window as the French forward seeks a new club that could let him play more often than the time he is getting at Manchester United.

Despite struggling due to injuries and lack of form for the best part of two seasons now, the Frenchman continues to attract interest from some big sides.

Once signed as the world’s most expensive teenager, Anthony Martial has failed to live up to massive expectations during his time at the club. It’s not to say he’s been a disaster in the Premier League, but Manchester United’s insistence on signing high profile forwards suggests their lack of trust in the Frenchman.

And the lack of confidence has shown so far this season, with Martial only making seven league appearances this term, most of them coming as a substitute. With the summer arrival of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, there seems to be less of a chance the Frenchman regularly plays for the remainder of the season.

Recently Martial’s agent told the media earlier the forward’s desire to leave in January, which prompted interest from Newcastle United. The Frenchman will certainly have better offers than a move to the Magpies with significant interest from Spain and Italy reported.

Earlier this month, Barcelona were linked with a move in January, although from Sky Sports’ reports, it seems like Martial prefers to sign for Sevilla instead. The understanding is that the Spanish side could afford him more playing time than other clubs.

Surprisingly there has been no talk of a move to Sevilla so far in the media, although the Spanish side could be in the mix next month. However, much will depend on the transfer fee Manchester United will demand, who could have a strong say in determining the Frenchman’s future.

According to the report, a decision might be made after Martial’s impending meeting with new boss Ralf Ragnick which could clarify the club’s stance on the Frenchman. It might still be possible for Manchester United to convince Martial to stay put, which might be the case if interested clubs fail to meet their demands.

When the January window opens, the French forward could be a hot property with plenty of clubs expected to queue up for Martial. However, it seems like the 26-year-old has his sights set on a move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
