Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly prepared to sign Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo next summer.

According to a recent report from El Nacional, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared for life without Kylian Mbappe next summer, as the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has sets his sights on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although PSG are trying their best to keep hold of Mbappe, it appears the Frenchman is destined to join Real Madrid next season. He already has a deal in place with Los Blancos, with his agent adamant that an extended new deal in Paris is not a possibility anymore.

In an attempt to replace Mbappe, who has a stellar record of 147 goals and 76 assists in 195 competitive outings, PSG have set their sights on Ronaldo. The Manchester United superstar is believed to be keen on leaving Old Trafford next summer despite only rejoining the club about four months ago.

Upon his return to Manchester United, Ronaldo has netted 13 goals in 18 competitive matches this season. But with the Red Devils dawdling outside of the top four, the Portuguese international is not convinced of the club’s ambition and project under the newly-appointed Ralf Rangnick.

It should open up an avenue for PSG to do the unthinkable by recruiting Ronaldo in the same team as Lionel Messi, an idea that was merely considered a fantasy by football fans across the globe. Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes himself, had reportedly offered the Portuguese sensation to PSG recently.

The move does not appear to be overly unrealistic at the moment, given PSG’s financial prowess and the sway they have over UEFA for refusing to involve themselves in the European Super League debacle earlier in the year.

While a front three of Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo could be the finest trios to ever exist in footballing history, PSG may likely have to offload Neymar in order to balance the books. Incidentally, Manchester United are among the clubs in contention to sign the Brazilian, who has endured a difficult start to the season.

The Red Devils, though, are more likely to move for a generational talent like Erling Haaland should Ronaldo end up departing Old Trafford next summer. The Norwegian international is already a top target for Rangnick, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the young attacking phenom next summer.
