Barcelona have reportedly readied a €30 million offer to sign Dani Olmo, a target for Manchester United, next summer.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Barcelona will only launch the offensive to sign Dani Olmo in next summer’s transfer window. To that end, the Catalan giants will offer €30 million to snap up the RB Leipzig attacker, who is also being courted by Manchester United.
Dani Olmo joined RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020 and has gone from strength to strength. A regular fixture for club and country, the Spanish international has added layers to his game in the last 18 months, impressing the onlookers with his creative nous and an eye for a goal.
To date, the 23-year-old has made 67 appearances for Leipzig, chipping in with 12 goals and 13 assists in the process. However, Olmo’s spell at the Red Bull Arena could be coming to an end, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe setting their sights on him. And two of his prospective suitors are Barcelona and Manchester United.
Barcelona had also been keen on signing Olmo this past summer but left it too late to initiate their charge for their former academy ace. The continued interest in the Spaniard makes a world of sense, as the team has been bereft of creative quality to a great extent while also struggling to score goals consistently.
To that end, Olmo is a viable target for Barcelona with a €30 million bid in the works. The player is capable of slotting in as a wide-attacker and a no. 8, making him a potentially versatile addition to Xavi Hernandez’s squad. On the other hand, Manchester United’s interest in the 23-year-old could be stemming from Paul Pogba’s uncertain future at the club.
Recent reports have also claimed that Olmo is in talks with Manchester United over a possible move, and he could be a like-for-like replacement for Pogba. However, the Spanish international’s preference is to return to Barcelona, where he feels he has unfinished business after leaving the club as a 16-year-old.
However, Barcelona can only afford to sign Olmo in the summer transfer window, when they will be prepared to offer €30 million to snap up their former academy ace. However, Manchester United could pay a higher sum in January to secure the services of the player, and it remains to be seen if Olmo stays put at Leipzig till the summer to get his wish of joining Barcelona.
