Arsenal and Sevilla are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder Arthur from Juventus this coming January.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Arsenal and Sevilla are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Arthur in the January transfer window. The 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder is deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus.
Arthur joined Juventus from Barcelona in September 2020 as part of a deal that saw Miralem Pjanic move the other way. However, the transfers have not worked one bit for any of the four parties involved, with Pjanic not even playing for Barcelona anymore, having been sent out on loan to Besiktas this past summer.
As for Arthur, the 25-year-old has made 40 appearances for Juventus to date, chipping in with one goal in the process. However, after struggling to win over Massimiliano Allegri in the first half of the ongoing season, the Brazilian midfielder has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Bianconeri. But Arthur does not have any shortage of suitors, with Arsenal keen on signing him.
The interest from Arsenal is understandable, considering Mohamed Elneny is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates. The Egyptian midfielder could leave the Gunners in the January transfer window, and his departure would force Arsenal to enter the market for a replacement.
With Ainsley Maitland-Niles also unsettled at the Emirates, the north Londoners need to keep their options open in the transfer market. As a result, several midfielders, including Georginio Wijnaldum, have been linked with Arsenal, with Arthur also a viable target.
Arthur’s new agent Federico Pastorello also manages Dejan Kulusevski, who is another of Arsenal’s targets. In addition to Arsenal, the 25-year-old is also the subject of interest from Sevilla over a possible move in the January transfer window. And according to Calciomercato, both Arsenal and Sevilla have established contact to inch closer to signing Arthur from Juventus this coming winter.
The Brazilian midfielder has also been heavily linked with Newcastle United, so it is clear that he might be a popular figure in the transfer market. However, with Arsenal and Sevilla already making contact over a January transfer, it remains to be seen if either of the clubs can land Arthur in the January transfer window.
