Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up the prospect of securing the services of Argentine international Juan Foyth, valued at €25 million by Villarreal.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Juan Foyth is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in a future transfer window. The Argentine international is valued at around €25 million by Villarreal.
Juan Foyth has resurrected his career since arriving at Villarreal from Tottenham Hotspur. Initially signed on loan by the Spanish outfit in October 2020, the 23-year-old permanently joined the Yellow Submarine this past summer and has only gone from strength to strength in this period.
To date, the Argentine international has made 49 appearances for Villarreal, chipping in with one goal and two assists in the process. The player’s exploits with the Valencian club has not gone unnoticed, with one of the biggest clubs in the world in Real Madrid keen on signing him.
Widespread reports in recent weeks have touted Real Madrid to be in the market for a right-back heading into 2022. The eagerness to bolster the right side of their defence makes sense in the wake of recent fitness issues that have blighted Dani Carvajal.
Recent suggestions have also pointed towards the possibility of Real Madrid selling Carvajal if an opportunity presents itself. Real Madrid could do with a right-back even if Carvajal stays put at the Santiago Bernabeu, considering the Spanish international will turn 30 in January.
In addition, Alvaro Odriozola does not seem to have much of a future at Real Madrid and will likely be sold by the club next summer once he returns from his loan spell at Fiorentina. And with Lucas Vazquez struggling to perform consistently as a makeshift right-back this season, it behoves Los Blancos to sign a right-back.
To that end, the Merengues have been linked with several right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong, with Foyth a viable target. The Argentine international’s €25 million price tag further makes him an attractive target for Real Madrid, especially considering they are reportedly saving a major chunk of their budget for Erling Haaland.
The report claims that the Spanish giants are lining up a move for Foyth, although it is unclear whether they wish to sign him in the January transfer window or next summer. For now, Foyth has emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, and it remains to be seen if a €25 million sees the light of the day.
