Borussia Dortmund have reportedly tabled a bid worth €35 million to sign Karim Adeyemi, a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona and Real Madrid will need to step up their efforts to sign Karim Adeyemi, as Borussia Dortmund have submitted an offer worth €35 million to sign the Red Bull Salzburg striker.
Karim Adeyemi has made quite an impression for Red Bull Salzburg since returning from a customary stint with FC Liefering. The 19-year-old has been particularly impeccable this season, having amassed 15 goals and two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, as he has earned his bow for the German national side this year. At the same time, Adeyemi has also emerged on the radars of the who’s who of European football, with two of his prospective suitors being Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The interest from Barcelona is understandable, considering Xavi does not have a reliable striker at his disposal. That is because Sergio Aguero is unavailable after being diagnosed with a heart condition that will keep him out for the foreseeable future. With Martin Braithwaite a backup option at best and Luuk de Jong failing to make an impression, it is clear why Barcelona would want to sign Adeyemi.
To that end, it has been suggested that the Catalan giants are readying an offer to sign the German international. However, they face stiff competition from bitter rivals Real Madrid in pursuit of the 19-year-old prodigy.
Real Madrid’s eagerness to sign Adeyemi is not unfounded as Karim Benzema is approaching the final phase of his career. So, even though the Frenchman is playing the best football of his career, it will behove Los Blancos to lay down a succession plan for him, making Adeyemi a viable target.
However, Borussia Dortmund have made the first move in pursuit of Adeyemi. The Bundesliga giants have tabled a bid worth €35 million to sign the Red Bull Salzburg striker, as they look to find a replacement for Erling Haaland, who is coincidentally also a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
What now remains to be seen is if Barcelona and Real Madrid are willing to offer a sum higher than €35 million to beat Dortmund to his signature or if the Bundesliga outfit ends up swooping him away from Salzburg, just as they did with Haaland nearly two years ago.
