Transfer News: Bayern Munich interested in Dani Carvajal

Bayern Munich have reportedly entered the market for Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal, who faces an uncertain future at the club.

According to El Nacional, Bayern Munich are eyeing a swoop for Dani Carvajal. The Real Madrid defender is facing an uncertain future at the Bernabeu amid reports suggesting that the Spanish giants are considering signing a new right-back. The prospect of adding more competition in his position has irked Carvajal, who is now re-evaluating his future at the club.

Having won almost everything at Real Madrid, the Spaniard could consider a potential exit as he looks to embrace a new challenge elsewhere. He does not have any shortage of admirers either, but it is Bayern Munich who have emerged as the serious candidates in the race to sign the right-back.

A product of Real Madrid’s La Fabrica youth academy, Carvajal has been a defensive mainstay at the Bernabeu for years. He has featured in over 300 competitive appearances for the club, winning almost every major trophy, including four UEFA Champions League and two La Liga titles.

However, in recent years, the right-back has struggled with a plethora of injury problems. The player notably failed even to muster 1,000 minutes of league action last season. While that has improved in the new season, Real Madrid are seemingly intent on adding a new face in the right-back department.

Los Blancos have already been linked with a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen’s rising star Jeremie Frimpong. The former Celtic youngster has emerged as one of the best right-backs in the Bundesliga this season, thus attracting the attention of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.

As for Carvajal, the potential addition of Frimpong or any other young right-back could lead to a move to the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich ready to pounce on the Spaniard.

The Bavarians have had a difficult season defensively, with new coach Julian Nagelsmann unhappy with the performances of Benjamin Pavard. He does not trust the backup option, Bouna Sarr, either. As a result, he has identified Carvajal as an ideal man to fix Bayern’s woes in the right-back department.

Having played for Bayer Leverkusen before his breakthrough at Real Madrid, Carvajal’s experience and pedigree at the highest level of football makes him an appealing option for the Bavarians. However, with Los Blancos yet to make a move in the market for a new right-back, a prolonged stay at the Bernabeu should not be ruled out either, for the experienced Carvajal, who will be aiming to earn a place in the Spain setup for the World Cup next year.
