Transfer News: Manchester United told to pay €42 million for Youssef En-Nesyri

Manchester United will have to fork out €42 million to secure the services of Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri.

According to Super Deporte, Sevilla are reconsidering their stance on Youssef En-Nesyri. The Spanish giants had rebuffed West Ham’s €30 million offer for the striker earlier in the new season but are now open to cashing in on their star player amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, Sevilla have no intention of selling En-Nesyri for cheap. In fact, they are holding out for a fee of €42 million for the number nine, whose current contract in Seville expires in 2025.

Formerly of Leganes, the Moroccan international has enjoyed a stellar spell at Sevilla, especially since the start of last season. Indeed, the forward has netted 21 goals in his last 45 matches in La Liga, emerging as one of the best number nines in the Spanish top-flight.

Unfortunately, though, En-Nesyri’s progress has been halted this season due to an injury. He has featured in just 12 minutes of league action post-September. During the period, Sevilla have found themselves an ideal alternative, in the form of Rafa Mir, who is currently the club’s top goalscorer this season with five goals.

Nevertheless, En-Nesyri’s early-season struggles have not deterred Manchester United from eyeing a move for the 24-year-old. He is, after all, likened to Erling Haaland due to a combination of physical prowess and goalscoring ability that should make him a tailor-made fit for the Premier League.

Standing at 1.90m, the former Malaga starlet can also be quite useful in the air, making him the ideal target man Manchester United require once they offload Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan’s current contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, but he may leave the club sooner amid interest from Barcelona.

Manchester United, though, are unlikely to get their hands on Youssef En-Nesyri in January, with Sevilla only being interested in a sale next summer. It appears they intend to keep the Morrocan at the club this season, as his performance could be vital in helping them meet their goals and expectations come May.

However, it remains to be seen whether Manchester United consider a move for En-Nesyri in the first place, given his hefty €42 million price tag. Arsenal, too, are believed to be involved in the race to sign the 24-year-old, but they too could end up looking elsewhere, having notably been linked with a move for Dejan Kulusevski.
