Transfer News: Liverpool will need to pay only £20 million for Adama Traore

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly prepared to cash in on Adama Traore for just £20 million amid interest from Liverpool.

If a report from Football Insider are to be believed, Liverpool have been dealt with a massive boost in their pursuit of Adama Traore. The Premier League giants had targeted the Wolverhampton Wanderers forward in the summer, but the move failed to materialise due to disagreements over the transfer fee, with the club demanding in excess of £50 million.

However, it appears Wolves are ready to slash Traore’s valuation ahead of the January transfer window, as they are in desperate need of funds. In fact, the former La Masia talent could be available for as low as £18 million, potentially giving Liverpool a whopping £32 million savings on the explosive forward, although his price tag currently stands at £20 million.

After his move to Anfield was blocked in the summer, Traore has fared quite well for Wolves in the new season. With no goals or assists in 12 league matches, the lack of productivity has remained an issue for the Spanish international, but his pace, athleticism and sheer strength have added a new dimension to Bruno Lage’s offensive unit.

However, the 25-year-old is now prepared to take the next step in his career. Many experts already believe that Traore’s numbers could shoot up significantly if he joins a bigger club, and that is where Liverpool could come into the fray.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Wolves attacker throughout 2021. It appears he has been identified as the ideal man to further reinforce Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options. The player himself is believed to be keen on moving to Liverpool, where he can reunite with his former Wolves partner Diogo Jota.

With both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane likely to remain out during the start of 2022 due to Africa Cup of Nations, the potential addition of Traore could be a lifesaver for Klopp. The 25-year-old has substantial experience in the Premier League, while his athleticism could make him a vital cog in the German’s Gegenpressing style of football. And with the Spaniard being available for just £20 million, he could be nothing less than a bargain for Liverpool.

Wolves, meanwhile, are desperate to offload Traore for a cut-price fee in January. His sale could give them some much-needed financial injective, as the club looks to secure a permanent deal for Hwang hee-Chan. However, the South Korean international is also being tracked by Liverpool, so it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga takes shape within the coming weeks.
