Transfer News: Tottenham keen on signing Kim Min-jae

Tottenham are keen on signing South Korean defender Kim Min-jae from Fenerbahce, who could demand around €20 million.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, Tottenham are among some big clubs showing an interest in signing Kim Min-jae from Fenerbahce. The South Korean is proving his worth at the Turkish giants who will not allow a move to transpire in January, although they might be open to a sale in the summer for the right fee.

Tottenham are keen on signing defenders in the upcoming windows, with a few quality names linked with the club in January. There are many players from Serie A who the north London side thought to be keen on.

Footballers from Antonio Conte’s old club Inter Milan are linked with a move to north London. Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar are among names. The Dutchman is a more realistic target who could be available on a cut-price move. However, they are open to other options from different leagues, as their extensive scouting network continues to provide options.

Bringing a quality defender seems like the priority for technical director Fabio Paratici, as the media have gone to the lengths of linking them to ambitious moves to players such as Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus. The Dutchman’s price tag might be beyond Tottenham’s range, especially considering they recently posted record losses.

Apart from those top target names, Spurs might also look at cost-effective, utility players who can fulfil specific roles. South Korean star Kim Min-jae is one of those players Tottenham are looking at.

Min-jae only signed with Fenerbahce this past summer, penning a four-year deal until 2025. There were widespread rumours about him having a supposed release clause of €9 million in his contract, which the Turkish side have dismissed as false claims.

The South Korean defender has gone on to become a key part of this Fenerbahce side. His 17 appearances across all competitions suggest how highly the Turkish side rate him. They expect him to play an important role in a long season ahead, especially in the Europa League, where they want to go the distance.

At the same time, though, Fenerbahce might be interested in making a sale if the offer is right, with their demands set around €20 million. While they would be reluctant to entertain offers in the January window due to the fact that he only joined in the summer they might reconsider their stance for the right price.

Tottenham are be mulling over the possibility of making an offer, although they could face competition from the likes of Juventus, who were keen on the defender before his move to Turkey.
