Real Madrid reportedly view Sadio Mane as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe but will need to pay at least €100 million to tempt Liverpool to cash in on him.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Sadio Mane has emerged as a possible alternative to Kylian Mbappe for Real Madrid. The Spanish giants will need to pay €100 million to prise him away from Liverpool in next summer’s transfer window.
Sadio Mane has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining Liverpool from Southampton in July 2016. Over the past half a decade, the 29-year-old has been a key figure for the Reds, playing a major role in the success they have enjoyed under Jurgen Klopp.
The Senegalese forward has been in fine form in the 2021/22 season, with nine goals and an assist in 16 appearances across all competitions. Seven of those strikes have come in the Premier League, leaving him behind just Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race. His exploits have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid keen on signing Mane.
Kylian Mbappe is reportedly the priority target for Real Madrid, keeping next summer’s transfer window in mind. The Spanish giants attempted to sign the Frenchman in a mega-money deal in the summer transfer only to be rebuffed by Paris Saint-Germain.
With Mbappe in the final year of his PSG contract, the Merengues hope to sign him on a Bosman move next summer. However, the Ligue 1 heavyweights are attempting to secure the long-term future of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, who is also a target for Liverpool in addition to Real Madrid.
So, Los Blancos have been forced to consider possible alternatives to Mbappe, considering signing a wide-attacker is imperative for them amid the continued struggles of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale. Hence, Mane is a viable target for Real Madrid, although Liverpool are eager to tie him down to a new contract.
However, signing Mane will not be cheap for Real Madrid, as Liverpool will likely demand at least €100 million to part ways with the 29-year-old. All things considered, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid can land Mane, although a move for the Liverpool forward will only come into question if the option to sign Mbappe disappears.
