Liverpool, Leicester City and Newcastle United are reportedly keeping tabs on Aguibou Camara, valued at £20 million by Olympiacos.
According to an exclusive report by The Sun, Liverpool, Leicester City, and Newcastle United are all closely monitoring the situation of Aguibou Camara. The Guinean midfield sensation is valued at around £20 million by Olympiacos, with the three Premier League clubs already making contact with his agent.
Aguibou Camara joined Olympiacos this past summer following a two-year stint with Lille. The start to life in Piraeus has been a solid one for the 20-year-old, who has taken no time to establish himself as a mainstay for the Greek giants while also being a regular feature for the Guinean national side.
So far this season, Camara has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Olympiacos while chipping in with five goals and two assists along the way. Several clubs have duly noted his progress, including Premier League trio Liverpool, Leicester City and Newcastle United.
The interest from Liverpool is understandable, considering they did not sign a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer transfer window. While Harvey Elliott stepped up superbly before sustaining an ankle injury, it is worth noting that James Milner is in the twilight of his career while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is facing an uncertain future at Anfield.
On the other hand, Leicester City could do with someone like Camara, with question marks popping up around the future of Nampalys Mendy. In addition, Dennis Praet is likely to be offloaded permanently at the earliest opportunity, making Camara a viable target.
As for Newcastle United, they have been linked with several attacking midfielders of late, including Jesse Lingard. The Magpies are set to undergo a major squad overhaul following the club’s takeover by the Public Investment Fund. Attack and midfield are in dire need of reinforcements, with Camara a viable target keeping the long-term future in mind.
Signing the Guinean midfield sensation will not be expensive, as he is valued at around £20 million. Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle United have all contacted the player’s agent, and it looks like a move could be in the offing. For now, the three clubs are keeping tabs on Camara, and it remains to be seen if any of them launch the offensive to sign him.
