English champions Manchester City have reportedly secured a deal to sign Southampton’s 16-year-old prodigy Max Alleyne.

A recent report by AS has offered details on Manchester City’s recent capture of Max Alleyne. The Southampton prodigy has opted to reject a scholarship from the Saints in favour of a move to the Etihad training complex. He will soon become a part of the Manchester City youth academy.

Alleyne was courted by some of the biggest clubs in England, including the entirety of the established “Big Six”. But it appears he preferred a move to Manchester City and is looking forward to the prospect of soon playing for a club enriched in glory and pedigree at the highest level of football in recent years.

Born in Barbados, Alleyne is one of the most gifted prospects in the country in his age group at the moment. At the tender age of 16, the youngster had notably made his debut for the Southampton Under-18 side. He also represents England at the youth level.

The English defensive prodigy has even confirmed his move to the Manchester City academy in an Instagram post. He insists he is delighted to have made the choice to join City and is looking forward to this next step in his youth career.

“To have joined such a hugely successful club is a proud moment for me and all of my family. I’ll work as hard as I possibly can and I feel that City is the perfect place for me to continue my development and progress as a player,” said Alleyne on Instagram.

The 16-year-old will immediately become a part of the Manchester City youth team that has been home to some of the most gifted talents across world football in recent years, including Jadon Sancho and current first team star Phil Foden. However, the former Southampton talent still has a long way to go before he can earn a promotion to the senior team or even the reserve side.

But, the addition of Max Alleyne is certainly an exciting prospect for Manchester City. It appears they are prepared to further strengthen their youth setup by also targeting a move for PSG super-talent Xavi Simons, although the youngster is a much more ambitious target.
