Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing Kingsley Coman and are prepared to pay up to €35 million to land the 25-year-old Bayern Munich forward.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid have joined the race to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich. The Spanish giants would be willing to offer up to €35 million to prise the 25-year-old away from the Bundesliga champions.
Kingsley Coman has already enjoyed a glittering career despite still being only 25 years old. A trophy winner every year of his senior footballing career, the Frenchman has won a league title in France, Italy and Germany. His best phase has come at Bayern Munich, having initially joined the Bavarian club in 2015 on loan from Juventus.
A key figure for Bayern in the last six years, Coman has been nothing short of impressive despite being hampered by several injuries. The 25-year-old has kicked on after a slow start to the 2021/22 season, with two goals and an assist in 11 appearances. However, the Bundesliga giants are in a spot of bother over the player’s long-term future.
Coman is set to enter the final 18 months of his Bayern Munich contract at the turn of the year, and the reigning German champions are eager to tie him down to a new deal. However, Coman reportedly has his heart set on embarking on a new adventure, meaning a summer exit is likely. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants have been touted to be in the market for multiple attacking reinforcements amid the continued struggles of Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio. In addition, Gareth Bale’s time as a Real Madrid player is winding down, with the Welshman in the final year of his contract with the club and unlikely to be handed a new deal.
So, it is hardly surprising that even though Kylian Mbappe is their priority, the Merengues could sign another attacker, having been linked with players like Fabio Carvalho, Jeremy Doku and Karim Adeyemi, with Coman also a viable target. And Real Madrid look set to make their move for the 25-year-old next summer, with an offer of up to €35 million being lined up.
However, Los Blancos could be in for a major transfer battle in pursuit of Coman, who is also being courted by Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United. What also remains to be seen is if an offer of around €35 million does the trick for Bayern Munich next summer or if Real Madrid are asked to pay a higher sum for the French forward.
