Liverpool are keeping tabs on Jarrod Bowen and are likely to explore signing him from West Ham United in the January window.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool could explore the idea of signing Jarrod Bowen in the January window, although the attacker is considered important to West Ham United’s current season.
Liverpool were looking at the possibility of signing a wide attacker in the previous window as Jurgen Klopp pondered bolstering his final third options. After the sale of Xherdan Shaqiri, the Reds boss wanted a reliable player to add to their roster.
However, the club only signed Ibrahima Konate in the summer and have since done well in all competitions. So far in the season, Klopp has heavily relied on star man Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to provide impetus from wide areas, with Diogo Jota often filling in for the Senegal international or centrally.
Klopp, though, will need to renew his options in attack and add some fresh blood, while the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations would make the signing of a wide player a necessity as both Salah and Mane will be away on international duty for a considerable period. Recently they were linked with Ousmane Dembele, although Klopp has been warned by Steve Nicol to steer clear of the Barcelona winger.
Jarrod Bowen is also linked with a move after the Englishman had a fantastic last season with West Ham as they finished sixth in the Premier League and qualified for the Europa League. The winger has started the current campaign as a key part of David Moyes’ side, helping them rise to fourth in the league table.
Klopp was keen to sign Bowen in the summer, although his price tag might have warded him and Liverpool off. The Reds are ready to have another go at the player, and as reported, could lodge a bid in the January window as Klopp seeks a solid option for the second half of the season.
With both sides set to meet in the Premier League on Sunday, this will provide Klopp with a good opportunity to get a closer look at Bowen’s performances. However, the Hammers’ boss, Moyes, will be displeased by this chase as he considers the winger key to the club’s chances on all fronts.
It’s highly unlikely Moyes will sanction the sale in the January window. Bowen is too good a player for a club like West Ham to be losing in the winter window. In any case, his price tag will be astronomical in January or next summer.
Bowen has scored three goals and provided as many assists in all competitions this season. The 24-year-old has a contract at West Ham until 2025, meaning the club may bide their time deciding on a sale. Either way, they will demand a big fee for the winger if Liverpool come calling in January in order to ward off the Reds.
