Atletico Madrid have reportedly joined the race to sign Marcelo Brozovic, a target for Barcelona and Manchester United.

According to reputed Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Atletico Madrid are the latest club linked with Marcelo Brozovic. The Inter Milan midfielder is also the subject of interest from Barcelona and Manchester United, among others, over a Bosman move in next summer’s transfer window.

Marcelo Brozovic has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining Inter Milan from Dinamo Zagreb. Now a part of the first-team setup at San Siro for half a dozen years, the Croatian international is a key figure for club and country, playing a pivotal role in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A triumph last season.

To date, Brozovic has made 257 appearances for Inter Milan, chipping in with 26 goals and 35 assists along the way. However, the Italian giants are in a precarious position over the future of the 28-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract with the club. Such a situation has alerted clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, among others.

Barcelona had reportedly been keen on signing Brozovic in the summer transfer window before a move failed to materialise. The interest has not waned much since, with the possibility of signing him on a free transfer, making him an appealing target for the Blaugrana.

With Sergio Busquets in the twilight of his storied career, the 28-year-old could be a long-term replacement, which explains why Barcelona are still hot on his trails. On the other hand, Manchester United are in desperate need of a holding midfielder, with the lack of one proving detrimental to their fortunes this season.

That is where the interest in Brozovic comes into the picture, with the Croat being an ideal candidate to replace the ageing Nemanja Matic. Now, Atletico Madrid have emerged in the race to sign the Inter Milan midfielder, which is understandable considering Hector Herrera is facing an uncertain future at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to Ekrem Konur, Atletico Madrid are willing to offer Brozovic an initial two-year deal, with the option of adding another year to it. Meanwhile, apart from Los Rojiblancos, Barcelona and Manchester United, PSG are also eager to land Brozovic, and it remains to be seen where he will end up if he decides to run down his contract with Inter Milan.
