Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in the January transfer window in a deal worth €5 million.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Gareth Bale is the subject of interest from Arsenal over a shock move in the January transfer window. The Gunners are prepared to offer €5 million to sign the Real Madrid misfit and have already approached the Spanish giants over a possible winter transfer.
Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013 and has since endured a topsy-turvy ride at the Santiago Bernabeu. Once a key figure for the Merengues, the 32-year-old has suffered a catastrophic dip in fortunes, becoming a peripheral quantity at the club.
The 2021/22 season has been one to forget for the Welsh international, who has featured just three times so far, scoring once, with injuries blighting his campaign so far. Bale, though, looks set to leave Real Madrid as a free agent, having entered the final year of his contract with Los Blancos. And his next destination could well be the Premier League, with Arsenal interested in the Real Madrid misfit.
The interest from Arsenal comes as a bit of a surprise. Firstly, his storied history with Tottenham Hotspur means signing Bale could be a complicated process. In addition, his injury woes have shown no signs of disappearing, which begs the question as to how he would prove to be a valuable addition for the Gunners.
Nevertheless, it looks like Arsenal are seriously pursuing a move for Bale, with a €5 million offer in the works. While the impending bid is a small figure, Real Madrid are unlikely to recoup much from the sale of a player who barely features for them. In fact, the Spanish giants have given Arsenal the go-ahead to open talks with Bale and his representatives.
Meanwhile, Bale is not the only Real Madrid outcast on the radar of Arsenal, who are also keen on signing Luka Jovic. In addition, there have been suggestions that the Gunners could make a move to re-sign Dani Ceballos.
As far as the pursuit of Bale is concerned, it remains to be seen if Arsenal can succeed in signing the Real Madrid misfit in a €5 million deal this January. What will be interesting to see is if Bale is open to joining the Gunners despite his history with Tottenham Hotspur. All in all, this looks like a transfer that is unlikely to materialise.
