Transfer News: Manchester United battle Barcelona for Kingsley Coman

Barcelona and Manchester United are reportedly interested in Kingsley Coman, with the 25-year-old facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Kingsley Coman might be facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich, but he does not have any shortage of suitors. The 25-year-old forward is being tailed by Barcelona and Manchester United, among others.

Kingsley Coman has come leaps and bounds since joining Bayern Munich from Juventus. Initially signed on loan in the summer of 2015, his move was made permanent two years later, as Bayern exercised their option to sign him permanently in April 2017.

Over the last six years, his career has been blighted by a spate of injuries, but Coman has remained a key figure for the Bundesliga champions throughout his stint. To date, 25-year-old has garnered 43 goals and 50 assists in 209 appearances for Bayern Munich. However, the German giants are in a precarious situation over the future of the French international.

Coman’s current contract will expire in the summer of 2023, so there is still some time to sort out the details of a new deal. However, recent reports indicate that the player is keen on embarking on a new adventure next year, with the situation capturing the attention of Barcelona and Manchester United.

Barcelona are still waiting to confirm Xavi as the new manager, although his appointment is touted to be a mere formality. And one of the key targets for the Barcelona legend is Coman. The interest in the 25-year-old makes a lot of sense amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of Ousmane Dembele.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has been heavily linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, among others. And his potential departure would invariably force Barcelona to scour the transfer market for a replacement, thereby making Coman a viable target.

As for the interest from Manchester United, it does come as a bit of a surprise, despite the struggles of Jadon Sancho. That is because the Red Devils have a loaded attacking unit at the moment, and there does not seem to be any spot open, even if Anthony Martial is offloaded by the club.

Apart from Barcelona and Manchester United, former clubs Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned as prospective suitors for Coman. So, it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old does end his stint with Bayern Munich to join another big-name club or if the Bundesliga giants can keep hold of their prized asset.
