Real Madrid are keen on securing the signing of Flamengo starlet Matheus Franca, who is regarded as one of the brightest up and coming talents in Brazil.
According to a report from AS, Real Madrid are interested in making a swoop for Flamengo’s teenage attacking midfielder Matheus Franca who is rated highly in Brazil.
The 17-year-old Franca has come through the youth ranks at Flamengo and currently plays for the club’s Under-20 side despite his young age. As per the report, he has been making a lot of waves due to his performances, with his physical presence and goal-scoring ability particularly standing out.
Able to play on the flanks or through the middle, Franca has mostly been used on the right-wing and has thrived in the position. Someone who idolises former Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, the 17-year-old has managed to catch the Merengues’ attention with his vast potential.
Real Madrid, in recent years, have made it a point to scour the South American market to bring in the best young talent from the continent. Over the years, they have been able to secure the signings of Federico Valverde (Uruguay) and the Brazilian trio of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Reinier Jesus.
Vinicius and Rodrygo have become key members of the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu, while Reinier has been sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, although he has been unable to find his feet in Germany.
Nonetheless, Real Madrid remain on the lookout for the next big talents coming out from Brazil, with Franca now registering on the radars of the Spanish capital outfit. However, a move for the youngster will not be straightforward, according to the report mentioned above.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder signed a new contract with Flamengo that ties him down to the Brazilian outfit until the summer of 2027. In addition, the said contract is said to possess a massive release clause that stands at €100 million.
Flamengo are aware that Franca will attract a lot of attention in the coming months and are intent on making the most of the situation. Whether Real Madrid are willing to formalise their interest in the teenage prospect and make an approach to sign him remains to be seen.
