Ronald Koeman will likely stick with much of the team that beat Valencia at the weekend, with Eric Garcia the only possible absentee.
Barcelona will be desperate to get a hold of their UEFA Champions League campaign after two consecutive defeats in their group. They languish at the very bottom of the group and face third-placed side Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
Manager Ronald Koeman will contemplate retaining the same side that won comfortably against Valencia at the weekend. The side seemed to have kicked a gear after performing terribly in the last month or so. Barcelona are in a very delicate position, and the ideas over the weekend seemed worthy of retaining.
Barcelona vs Dynamo Kyiv Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News & Key Stats
On team news, Eric Garcia could be the only change Koeman might make to his starting lineup. The central defender misses out due to the red card he received against Benfica. Clement Lenglet is set to deputise for Garcia and partner Gerard Pique at the heart of the Barcelona defence, with Ronald Araujo out with an injury.
Sergino Dest could be used again as part of the front three after impressing against Valencia on the right wing. As a result, Sergi Roberto should once again be deployed at right-back while Jordi Alba is fully fit to keep playing consecutive games at left-back. The absence of Pedri will allow Gavi to keep his place in central midfield alongside Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets.
Onto the final third, Koeman has plenty of options to ponder. Sergio Aguero played his first minutes in a Barcelona shirt against Valencia, although he may not still warrant a start against Dynamo Kyiv. The manager will have to carefully look after the Argentine forward and not risk another injury setback in the short term.
Another star who just returned from injury, Ansu Fati, has become key for Barcelona’s attack again. And during his pre-match press conference, Koeman spoke about Fati’s progress, saying, “Ansu Fati can not play 3 games in 7 days. So we’ll think about what’s best for him and the team.”
Fati has now scored in consecutive La Liga games and is proving vital again for the club’s progress. The young attacker should be deployed on the left flank, with Sergino Dest starting on the right side of the Barcelona attack, while Memphis Depay will lead the line against Dynamo Kyiv.
Predicted Barcelona XI: ter Stegen; Roberto, Lenglet, Pique, Alba; de Jong, Busquets, Gavi; Dest, Depay, Fati
