Transfer News: Arsenal interested in Adrien Rabiot

Arsenal have registered interest in 26-year-old Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, with a January move reportedly in the sights.

According to a new report from Fichajes, Arsenal are set to continue their latest tradition of raiding European giants for their unwanted players and most recently, they have set their sights on Adrien Rabiot.

Mikel Arteta believes that the Juventus outcast can showcase his true potential in the Premier League and is ready to snap him up next summer or even in the upcoming January transfer window. Rabiot does have a contract at the Serie A giants until 2023, but he is likely to be offloaded by the Bianconeri sooner rather than later.

Formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, Rabiot joined Juventus in 2019 on a free transfer. It seemed like a massive coup at the time, but the 26-year-old midfielder has struggled to fulfil his potential in Italy, often struggling with a lack of consistency and form.

The Frenchman has not had too many difficulties getting regular game-time, but his lack of quality performances have left Juventus dawdling against their rivals in recent years.

That has not deterred Arsenal, though, with the Premier League giants ready to provide Rabiot with an opportunity to revive his career. The Gunners are evidently in the market for reinforcements in the midfield department, in their quest to find a perfect partner for Thomas Partey in the middle of the park.

Rabiot fits the bill perfectly for Arsenal due to his experience and pedigree at the highest level of football. The former Manchester City youth player has indeed over 200 combined appearances during his time in Italy and France, while winning 22 caps for his country.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to England in the past, with Newcastle United most recently registering their interest in the player. But Arsenal appear to be a far more logical destination for the former PSG star, as he seeks to take the next step in his career.

Rabiot is not the only Juventus player to be linked with a January exit. however. His midfield partner Weston McKennie is also likely to arrive in the Premier League, with clubs like Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham already circling the American international, who has also had difficulties making his mark for the Serie A heavyweights.

Both Rabiot and McKennie do have relatively long contracts at Juventus, though, giving the Bianconeri the ability to demand a higher fee. McKennie was rumoured to cost around €30 million, but this value may increase for Rabiot, who offers much more experience to the table for Arsenal.
