Transfer News: Donny van de Beek offered to Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Donny van de Beek, whose struggles at Manchester United appear to have no end.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Donny van de Beek could be on the move from Manchester United in the January transfer window. The Dutch midfielder has now been offered to Real Madrid, with his agent Guido Albers already testing the waters over a potential move.

Donny van de Beek joined Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2020, arriving at Old Trafford as a potential long-term solution in midfield. However, the 24-year-old has seen his progress completely stalling after becoming a bit-part player in the Red Devils’ first-team setup.

As a result, van de Beek had been eager to seal a summer exit from Manchester United this past summer only to not be granted a summer move by the club. Things have hardly improved early in the 2021/22 season despite initial guarantees by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Dutch midfielder managing just 141 minutes of action so far.

Things seem to have reached a head recently, as van de Beek was seen exasperating after being an unused substitute earlier in the week against Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League As a result, the out-of-favour midfielder is now reportedly determined to seal a January exit from Manchester United, with his agent now offering him to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid do appear to be in the market for a central midfielder, largely keep next summer in mind, with Youri Tielemans among the options they are exploring. The eagerness to bolster the midfield unit is not unfounded either, despite the arrival of Eduardo Camavinga in the summer.

That is because Luka Modric is in the twilight of his career while Toni Kroos is also approaching the final phase of his playing days. So, it will be a prudent move for Real Madrid to lay down a succession plan for the veteran duo, with van de Beek now emerging as a possibility.

Real Madrid do have their sights set on Manchester United, albeit for a Bosman move for Paul Pogba. However, with van de Beek’s agent Guido Albers offering the Dutchman to them, it remains to be seen if Los Blancos make their move for the Manchester United outcast in January.
