Transfer News: Real Madrid reignite interest in Florian Neuhaus

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Florian Neuhaus, who is also a target for Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid have rekindled their pursuit of Florian Neuhaus at the behest of Carlo Ancelotti. The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder is also being courted by the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Florian Neuhaus joined Borussia Monchengladbach from 1860 Munich in the summer of 2017 and has since made rapid progress in his career. The 24-year-old has, in fact, become a mainstay in the midfield unit for the Bundesliga outfit since returning from a loan spell at Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2018.

To date, Neuhaus has made 122 appearances for Gladbach, chipping in with 16 goals and 20 assists along the way, with his exploits also earning him his big break with the German national side. At the same time, some of the biggest clubs in the world have had their sights firmly set on him as well, with the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United currently in his pursuit.

Real Madrid were briefly linked with Neuhaus in the summer as well, with the player being keenly admired by manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has, in fact, advised the club to consider a move for him once again. The interest in the German international makes sense as well, seeing as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are both on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the end of their storied careers.

So while Eduardo Camavinga arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu this past summer, signing another central midfielder will be a step in the right direction for Real Madrid, who have the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Lorenzo Pellegrini on their radar. And Neuhaus is an option worth considering as well.

Liverpool, on the other hand, were heavily linked with Neuhaus for a long time in the summer before choosing to not sign a midfielder and impose their faith in Harvey Elliott. However, with James Milner in the twilight of his career, the Reds might enter the market for a midfielder after all, with Neuhaus back on their agenda.

Finally, Manchester United are in a spot of bother over the future of Paul Pogba, who has entered the final year of his deal at Old Trafford and has been linked with Real Madrid. And the Red Devils could be forced to enter the market for a midfielder if Pogba indeed departs, which is why they have been linked with Kalvin Phillips, Tanguy Ndombele and Aurelien Tchouameni among others.

Apart from Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich also have their sights set on Neuhaus, who could well be on the move in the summer. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see which club he chooses as his next destination if he indeed departs Gladbach.
