Transfer News: Manchester City interested in Jacob Ramsey

English champions Manchester City are keeping tabs on Aston Villa’s latest young sensation Jacob Ramsey this season.

According to Fichajes, Jacob Ramsey has emerged as a potential target for Manchester City. The reigning English champions are keeping a close eye on the Aston Villa playmaker, who has made a solid impression with his early-season performances, notably attracting the attention of Pep Guardiola.

The Premier League giants did recently do business with Aston Villa, bringing in Jack Grealish for a record fee this summer. So a move in the immediate future remains unlikely, but the player has turned a few heads in the Man City camp nonetheless, having already featured in five Premier League matches so far this campaign.

A native of Birmingham, Ramsey has been a part of the Villa academy since 2007, having joined at the age of just six. He has enjoyed a swift rise to prominence, gaining his promotion to the senior side last season, even featuring in 22 league matches.

But this is the season where 20-year-old is threatening to make his breakthrough. The summer exit of Grealish has indeed paved the way for Ramsey to gain a prominent role in the starting eleven, despite the fact that Villans had brought in Emi Buendia in the summer.

Although yet to take part in a single goal or assist in his 27 Premier League appearances with Aston Villa, Ramsey has impressed the onlookers with his dynamism in the final third. His work ethic, versatility have also made him an appealing long-term target for Manchester City, who are preparing for the future without a few existing stars.

Bernardo Silva was linked with a summer move to FC Barcelona, who are also in the market for Raheem Sterling in the upcoming January transfer window. Their departures could leave a void in Man City’s creative department, and after splurging big money on Grealish, they may not be able to sign an immediate replacement.

That is where talents like Jacob Ramsey could be useful in filling the gap for the long term. But he is not the only youngster courted by Man City this summer, with the reigning English giants reportedly in the market for West Ham’s emerging talent Divin Mubama, who is more of a centre-forward and a potential alternative to Liam Delap.
