Transfer News: Tottenham set to return for Dusan Vlahovic in 2022

Tottenham could be back in the hunt for Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, whose value at Fiorentina could rise further next summer.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham could return to Italy and try again signing Dusan Vlahovic next summer, as technical director Fabio Paratici eyes a quality forward. Fiorentina were fortunate to hold on to the Serbian’s services, although his future might be decided one way or another at the end of the season.

With the help of Fabio Paratici, Tottenham scoured the Italian market for a viable striker, as fears grew around the future of Harry Kane. The England captain was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City but eventually stayed put at the club, at least for another season.

One of their main targets for the position had Kane left was Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic. The Fiorentina striker had just come off with 21 goals during the Serie A season and fell on the radar of many clubs across Europe and England.

With two years left on his current deal, he was widely tipped to leave the Italian side, and Tottenham were waiting on the wings on further developments. However, as it became clear that Kane was to stay put, the interest cooled off, as the north London side focused their efforts on strengthening other important positions.

However, new reports now indicate, Spurs could yet try and sign Vlahovic next summer, hoping his valuation might be lowered by Fiorentina when he will have just a year left on his deal. Tottenham are hoping to get him at a discounted rate, as the Italian side demanded more than €50-60 million from suitors this summer.

Alternatively, his value could skyrocket if he has another goal-laden season. Reports suggest that Fiorentina could ask for nearly €70-80 million, significantly higher than their demands this summer. This could also indicate that the club are confident of extending his deal beyond 2023 sometime this season.

However, the north London side could still try, and they won’t be alone. Atletico Madrid also tracked Vlahovic during the summer. The Madrid club will certainly be searching for a long term striker solution as they might not rely on the ageing Luis Suarez to provide that.

It sure will be an interesting summer for Vlahovic, as he looks destined to move on from Serie A. It remains to be seen if he extends his deal with Fiorentina or moves on a discounted price.
