Transfer News: West Ham United interested in Jed Wallace

West Ham United vs AFC Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction.

West Ham United to compete against several teams in England and Scotland for Millwall attacker Jed Wallace, who looks set to be a free agent next summer

According to Football League World, Premier League outfit West Ham United are among several clubs keen on Millwall’s 27-year-old attacker Jed Wallace.

The Englishman joined Millwall initially on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2016 before making the deal permanent a year later. He has since gone on to make 227 appearances for the Lions, scoring and assisting 39 goals apiece.

Primarily a right-midfielder, he is versatile enough to be deployed in numerous roles in attack and midfield. He has often stood out as Milwall’s major creative spark and could be available for free when his contract expires next summer.

Wallace already has an offer on the table to extend his stay at The Den. He has scored three goals and provided one assist in his first five Championship games this season, ramping up interest among other clubs in recruiting his services.

West Ham will have to beat off many sides who are all keeping tabs on the player. This list includes fellow Premier League sides Burnley, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Brentford. Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic are also in the fray, followed by Championship giants West Bromwich Albion.

Millwall are not ready to give up without a fight and are keen to secure the midfielder’s future at the club. However, it is proving difficult to be difficult, and Wallace could end up leaving for new pastures.

The 27-year-old had previously spoken of his ambition to take Millwall to the Premier League. However, the Lions are struggling in the second flight and will need a miracle to gain promotion. Wallace could, however, finally earn himself a ticket to the top flight if he keeps up his current level of performance.

He would be a handy addition to the West Ham side, who have enjoyed a rather underwhelming summer. English ace Jarrod Bowen has proven himself to be an excellent outlet on the right for the Hammers. He has, however, been linked extensively with a move to Liverpool. Whether or not he leaves the club in the coming windows, the Hammers will be well served to make a move for Wallace.

A physical presence capable of dribbling, crossing and passing with ease, Wallace could be a wise replacement for Bowen if it comes to that. Add to it his prowess on set pieces, and West Ham could be landing themselves an effective player for free. Bowen, James Maddison, Jack Grealish and recently Harvey Elliott have all shown that Championship players can make it in the top-flight should they apply their skills well.

There is no reason why Wallace cannot do the same at West Ham. David Moyes is a manager who has often gotten his players punching above their weight. Playing under him could prove to be just the right step for Wallace as he enters the prime of his career.
