Adama Traore is reportedly set to be offered a deal worth £120,000 per week by Wolverhampton Wanderers amid interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.
According to an exclusive report by The Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to make Adama Traore their highest paid player to ward off interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. The Black Country outfit are ready to table a deal worth £120,000 per week to secure the future of the Spanish international.
Adama Traore joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018. Over the last three years, he has gone from player who had shown a lot of promise albeit without much in way of end product to a key figure for Wolves, although his end product has once again been questionable
To date, the 25-year-old has amassed 135 appearances for the Black Country outfit, chipping in with 10 goals and 18 assists in the process. However, Traore’s future has been the subject of intense speculation over the past year or so, with his current deal having less than two years to run out. This has alerted Liverpool and Tottenham.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Traore for quite some time now and for good reason, at a time when their attacking resources have thinned following the departure of Xherdan Shaqiri. In addition, with Divock Origi being linked with a potential switch to Turkey, the Reds are in an urgent need to sign an attacking player.
Another major reason why Liverpool could have done with an attacking addition is the fact that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah could be unavailable for a considerable period at the turn of the year, owing to the Africa Cup of Nations. Tottenham, on the other hand, were hot on his trails right till the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Like Liverpool, Tottenham can do with a new wide forward, especially with Steven Bergwijn seemingly not enjoying the faith of Nuno Espirito Santo. So, the acquisition of Traore could have done wonders for Spurs in the summer, adding a new dimension to their attack, only for them to miss out on him.
Now, Tottenham and Liverpool will be keenly monitoring the developments surrounding the renewal of Traore, with Wolves willing to offer him a £120,000-a-week contract. Such a deal would make the Spanish international the highest paid player at the Molineux.
