Official: Juventus confirm Moise Kean signing from Everton

Juventus have re-signed Moise Kean from Everton on a two-year loan deal with a potential obligation to buy clause embedded in it.

Juventus have confirmed the return of Moise Kean from Everton. The Italian striker has joined on a two-year loan deal with the contract carrying a potential obligation to buy clause, which could be active after the agreement period. The Italian forward returns to his old club to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who has left the Serie A giants.

Juventus began their deadline day by announcing the departure of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo who will now join Manchester United on a permanent basis. The Bianconeri will receive a fixed fee of €15 million plus around €8 million in add-ons for the Portuguese forward.

The Serie A heavyweights had lined up a replacement for Ronaldo for many days now, with Moise Kean their primary target. The Italian striker had left Juventus two years ago on a permanent deal to join Everton, although things have not clicked for him in the Premier League.

Kean was limited in his appearances at Goodison Park in his maiden season and joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan last summer. In Paris, Kean found his form in front of goal, scoring 16 times in nearly 40 appearances across all competitions.

The French club were interested in re-signing him, although they baulked at Everton’s valuation of the player. PSG did reportedly attempt to propose another loan for the Italian international, but the Toffees declined to suggest they would prefer a permanent transfer.

Juventus showed interest and with Ronaldo’s future more than uncertain last week, they decided to make a formal offer. The Bianconeri, like other Serie A clubs, have been hit hard by the pandemic, and have significant financial difficulties to get transfer business done.

The Italian side had proposed a two-year loan along with a potential obligation to purchase the player after the contract ends. Everton have accepted this offer. With the loan fees and potential obligation purchase price, the Toffees could make a decent profit over their initial outlay on Kean two years ago.

Juventus wanted a young forward who could complement the likes of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata. Kean, who has already played with much of this current Bianconeri squad, knows the club and their style well, especially that of manager Maximiliano Allegri.

However, in normal circumstances, Juventus could not have afforded the striker. A long loan deal suits them better, something similar to their agreement with Sassuolo for midfielder Manuel Locatelli. While Kean was eager to re-join PSG earlier, he might well be content with returning to Juventus, who are still an upgrade over Everton.
