Transfer News: Manchester United ace Donny van de Beek eyed by Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann has set his sights on Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek.

According to Fichajes, Bayern Munich are preparing a Manchester United raid for the services of Donny van de Beek. The Red Devils’ midfielder has emerged as a top target for head coach Julian Nagelsmann in his bid to further strengthen his ranks in the middle of the park, before the transfer deadline.

It is no secret that Bayern are bracing themselves for life without Corentin Tolisso. The Frenchman is not wanted at Allianz Arena, which has already attracted clubs like Arsenal. And in order to replace him, Nagelsmann prefers the singing of van de Beek, a player that has been used sparingly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Bayern Munich had been earlier linked with a move for Marcel Sabitzer. But they haven’t had much luck reaching an agreement at RB Leipzig, already disgruntled at the back that the Bavarians have poached their two assets in Julian Nagelsmann and Dayot Upamecano, earlier this summer.

The Rekordmeister are, therefore, ready to move on and sign van de Beek. The Dutchman, as it seems, has no place in the Manchester United side, especially after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo that will force the club to offload some of the fringe players.

Diogo Dalot has recently been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, although it appears Solskjaer is reluctant on offloading until he signs a proper back-up for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The former Crystal Palace defender hasn’t been performing very well either, further diminishing Dortmund’s hopes of getting their hand on the Portuguese.

Van de Beek, though, is a completely different proposition. The Dutchman has fallen behind Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in the pecking order, with little hopes of making a breakthrough in the new season, despite being given assurances by the manager.

A move to Bayern Munich, though, would be a questionable decision, knowing he will be playing second fiddle to Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. But with Thomas Muller nearing the final phase of his career, there is a possibility of him possibility emerging as an alternative for the German in the number ten role.

Nagelsmann himself is a fan of squad rotation, so the former Ajax starlet will certainly be given the opportunity to make an impact at the Allianz Arena. However, it remains to be seen whether Bayern Munich are willing to match Manchester United’s valuation of the talented midfielder, who could certainly cost more than €20 million this summer.
