Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier are set to demand between €15 million to €20 million for Gaetan Laborde, who is a target for West Ham United.
According to an exclusive report by French outlet Le 10 Sport, West Ham United now know how much they will have to pay to secure the services of Gaetan Laborde before the summer transfer window slams shut. Montpellier are set to demand between €15 million and €20 million for the 27-year-old French striker.
Gaetan Laborde joined Montpellier from Bordeaux in the summer of 2018 and has since been one of the best strikers on show in Ligue 1 over the last three years. 2020/21, in particular, proved to be a season to remember for the 27-year-old, who was among the top scorers in the French top-flight.
To date, the Frenchman has managed a tally of 38 goals and 20 assists in 117 appearances for La Paillade and his performances have now attracted several clubs across Europe. One of his suitors appear to be hot on his trails, with West Ham United keen on signing Laborde.
West Ham are believed to be in the market for a striker this summer as they look to provide the right kind of support for Michail Antonio. A versatile forward who has been successfully converted into a striker, the 31-year-old is oddly the only striker at the disposal of David Moyes.
Indeed, the Hammers have failed to sign a replacement for Sebastien Haller since the Frenchman’s move to Ajax in January. As a result, West Ham have been scouring for a striker, even as they have failed to do much in way of investments in the ongoing transfer window. Nevertheless, Laborde has emerged as a target for the east Londoners.
In recent times, it has even been speculated that a bid is in the works, with West Ham now knowing his price tag. As per Le 10 Sport, Montpellier are demanding between €15 million and €20 million in exchange of the 27-year-old striker.
With West Ham being reluctant spenders this summer, it will be interesting to see if they are ready to pay up to €20 million to secure the services of Laborde. For now, West Ham are in talks with Montpellier to sign the 27-year-old, and will be hoping that with European football on offer, they can swoop him away from the Ligue 1 club.
