Transfer News: Arsenal open to selling Alexandre Lacazette for €15 million

Alexandre Lacazette could depart Arsenal in the last days of the window, as the Gunners are willing to accept bids worth €15 million for the striker.

According to Ekrem Konur, Arsenal are willing to accept bids worth €15 million for Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman was reportedly put up for sale last month by the club, although they are yet to receive any reasonable offers, with the transfer window set to close at the end of August.

Arsenal might have endured a difficult start to their Premier League campaign, but they have achieved some success in the transfer market this summer. The Gunners have signed each of their primary targets so far, and there are expectations the club would conduct more business before the window closes.

While there is a need for a right-back and possibly a striker, the club might be active if an opportunity arises. Arsenal have revived their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier, although they are nowhere near finding a viable striker target so far. However, bringing fresh players may not be their concern; selling existing ones is.

Arsenal have several players not featuring in Mikel Arteta’s plans, including a host of right-backs, Sead Kolasinac and English trio Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah. The latter is being chased by Crystal Palace, who have a £10 million budget for the striker, although the Gunners seek double that.

Alexandre Lacazette is also reportedly on this list of players Arsenal want to sell. There were whispers of the Frenchman departing after the loss to Brentford, which he missed. The subsequent transfer rumours were squashed after it was revealed Lacazette missed the game after testing positive for Covid.

However, as the transfer window draws close, Ekrem Konur has suggested the Gunners could accept offers worth €15 million for the striker. Atletico Madrid were briefly interested, but that could no longer be the case as Diego Simeone has other targets in sight.

As things stand, there is no significant interest in Lacazette, who has entered the last year of his contract at the club. More interestingly, Mikel Arteta rates the striker and may be willing to keep him for the season should an acceptable offer not come along. This could mean Lacazette might leave on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal have also struggled without Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front in the first two games of the season. Unless the club are willing to bring in a replacement, they might not sell Lacazette. Arteta would find it hard to manage the season with only one senior striker, considering Nketiah also leaves.
