Transfer News: Wolves eye £7 million swoop for Kieffer Moore

Wolverhampton Wanderers are weighing up a £7 million bid for Kieffer Moore, with Bruno Lage keen on a new centre-forward.

According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Wolverhampton Wanderers have entered the market for Kieffer Moore. They are interested in signing a new centre-forward in the final week of the transfer window, with the Cardiff City star emerging as an ideal candidate.

Wolves are even preparing a £7 million bid for the tall striker, whose current contract at Cardiff expires in 2023. The Bluebirds are open to selling their prized asset in the wake of a pandemic that has left them in financial disarray.

Formerly of Dorchester, Kieffer Moore is an experienced forward who has plied his trade for multiple clubs across English football. In fact, after starting his career at Truro City FC, the 29-year-old has played for ten different clubs, including Norwegian outfit Viking FK in 2015.

He joined Cardiff last summer for a fee of just £2 million. It has turned out to be a bargain for the club, with the forward emerging as one of the best players in the Championship last season, scoring 20 goals in just 42 appearances. His exploits in front of goal helped the club achieve a top-eight finish in the league.

In addition to his experience in English football, Moore also has 21 caps for the Welsh national team to his team, scoring six goals. One of them came in Euro 2020 this summer, in the form of a vital late equaliser against Switzerland.

Nevertheless, this excellent mix of experience and pedigree in English football has made Kieffer Moore an ideal target for Wolves. It is no secret that the west Midlands outfit are in the market for a viable alternative for Raul Jimenez this summer, with the Mexican international recently returning from a long injury layoff.

The Cardiff City forward’s valuation has not been revealed in the report but a fee of £7 million does make a world of sense. However, he isn’t the only option on Wolves’ books, with Bruno Lage also monitoring the situation of Liverpool outcast Divock Origi.

The Reds have already succeeded in offloading one of their unwanted players in Xherdan Shaqiri today, so it won’t be surprising to see them offload another. Origi is far more experienced at the highest level of football and is also quite younger, though it will open up an opportunity for Liverpool to demand a hefty fee for the Belgian international.

So, it will be interesting to see who among the two Wolves decide to sign before the transfer window closes.
