Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a final attempt to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane even after his appearance against Wolves.

According to the latest column in Telegraph, Manchester City have not yet given up their pursuit of Harry Kane. The Tottenham Hotspur forward had recently made an appearance in the Premier League against Wolves, prompting many to believe that the Englishman may end up remaining in north London this summer.

However, Manchester City are still hopeful of securing a deal for the highly-rated forward and are apparently weighing their final attempt to sign the English goal machine. It essentially means that Tottenham may have to brace themselves for yet another offer from the English champions this week, one that could seriously force them to consider the sale.

After Chelsea secured the services of Romelu Lukaku earlier this month, Manchester City remain the only big club in England yet to solve their problem in the number nine position. They do have Gabriel Jesus in their ranks, but the Brazilian is not trusted by Pep Guardiola, who has set his sights on Kane as an ideal solution to his side’s goalscoring problems.

The Citizens, though, have identified a few potential alternatives in the market, should they miss out on Kane this summer. One of the main targets is Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina, whose tall frame and physical prowess make him an ideal target for the technically astute chance creators of Manchester City.

Another, more proven alternative is Robert Lewandowski. It was reported this week that the Bayern Munich forward is looking for a new challenge after seven successful years at the Allianz Arena. He was even offered to Manchester City earlier in the summer, although it appears Premier League clubs are not willing to match Bayern’s exorbitant price tag.

It leaves Manchester City with Kane as the number one option as they continue to scour the market for a reliable number nine. Tottenham have not yet shown any signs of doubts over their intent to keep hold of the Englishman rather than cashing in for a fortune.

But the Lilywhites might be forced to reconsider should Manchester City manage to come up with a suitable offer. Any figure touching the €150 million mark, in particular, could certainly appease Daniel Levy, though it will be a difficult proposition for the Citizens, who have already broken Premier League’s transfer record by signing Jack Grealish this summer.
