Transfer News: Leeds United tracking Ryan Kent situation

Leeds United are reportedly monitoring the situation of Ryan Kent closely, with the 24-year-old English attacker facing an uncertain future at Rangers.

According to a report by The Athletic, Rangers are in a spot of bother when it comes to their financial situation, which has only exacerbated following their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. As a result, the future of 24-year-old former Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent has become uncertain, with Leeds United tracking his situation.

Kent progressed through the ranks at Liverpool after joining the club as a seven-year-old in 2004. However, he could never really make a breakthrough at Anfield and was instead sent out on five different loan spells before he finally called it quits at the Merseyside club. The last of those temporary moves was to Rangers, who signed him permanently two summers ago.

To date, including his loan stint, the 24-year-old English attacker has managed a record of 27 goals and 30 assists in 132 appearances for the Scottish giants and played a key role in their league triumph last term. However, Rangers are in trouble on the financial front, with the failure to make it to the UEFA Champions League only worsening things for them.

As a result, the Scottish champions are in a situation wherein they might have to cash in on some of their most valuable assets, one of whom is Kent. And, such a precarious situation has alerted Leeds United, who are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old’s situation at the Ibrox Stadium.

Leeds United hold a long-standing interest in Kent, and their continued pursuit of the former Liverpool attacker is understandable as well, seeing as they are in the market for a forward. That is because Helder Costa barely made an impact last term, with Raphinha and Jack Harrison being the first-choice wide attackers for the Whites.

However, amid lofty ambitions of making it to Europe, the west Yorkshire club need to bolster their attacking unit. That is why Leeds have been linked with Fabio Carvalho, Mikkel Damsgaard and Adama Traore, among others, with Kent being a viable target as well.

In fact, it has even been suggested that Leeds have been eyeing a double raid on Rangers for Kent and Glen Kamara, although the latter is set to commit his long-term future to the club. As for Kent, it remains to be seen if he ends up leaving the Scottish champions this summer to join Leeds or if he stays put at the Ibrox Stadium.
