Transfer News: Liverpool edge closer to signing Bobby Clark

Liverpool are close to completing a move for Newcastle United youngster Bobby Clark, as the deal details are expected to emerge soon.

According to Chronicle Live, Liverpool are edging closer to complete the signing of young midfielder Bobby Clark. The Merseysiders want to sign the Newcastle teenager and develop him into a top talent for the future. The details of the deal are expected to emerge soon.

Bobby Clark was long expected to stay put with Newcastle and develop at the club to form its future. The fanbase and people associated with the club wanted the youngster to emulate his father, Lee Clark, a cult figure with the Magpies.

However, the midfielder looks set to leave the club to see through his development years elsewhere. Liverpool is the reported new destination for Clark. The Premier League side are set to pluck one of Tyneside’s best young prospects, even before he can see out his scholarship years, usually until the age of 17.

His performances for youth sides have prompted the interest of many big clubs across England, and Liverpool seems to have won the race for Newcastle’s academy product. Indeed, as per the report, the Reds have agreed a fee for the 16-year-old whizkid.

By signing Clark, Liverpool would have beaten the significant competition. Manchester City and Tottenham were considered in pursuit of the midfielder, while there had been rumours of Chelsea and Manchester United as well. Clark’s rise to prominence has helped gained so much attention.

Clark was playing for Newcastle U-18s at the age of 14. In recent years he has also cemented his place in the England U-16 setup. However, the midfielder seems to have made up his mind over joining Liverpool instead of other clubs. The Reds have integrated their youth players well into the first-team squad in recent years, which might have swung Clark’s desire to join the Merseysiders.

Liverpool have recently been aggressive in developing players despite losing a few talented prospects along the way, for instance, Ethan Ennis, who joined Manchester United.

As a vision for their future, Liverpool are planning on bringing a lot of youth players and develop them into first-teamers to build the next generation of Premier League stars. It seems like their project is off to a flyer with the impending signing of Bobby Clark, who is primed to become a top player in the coming years.
