Leeds United remain linked with Adolfo Gaich and have an offer ready for the 22-year-old forward, although the Argentine prefers a switch back to Serie A.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Leeds United are prepared to table an offer for Adolfo Gaich as parent club CSKA Moscow are open to letting him leave on another loan spell. The Yorkshire-based club had been interested in the Argentine forward in the summer of 2020 only to watch him join Benevento on loan in Serie A.
Gaich shot to fame when Benevento recorded their most memorable victory against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium. The Argentine scored the game’s only goal, although the win was only one of seven last term for the Italian side, who suffered relegation to Serie B.
The one-time capped Argentine striker, who signed for CSKA Moscow in 2020 from San Lorenzo in a £7 million deal, wants another shot at Serie A football and is waiting on offers. Having played the first half of last season with the Russian side, he was sent to Benevento on loan for the remainder of the campaign, scoring twice in 15-appearances.
Despite a decent outlay of £7 million by CSKA to acquire him, the Russian club are open to sending the 22-year-old on another loan spell. With Gaich wanting a return to Serie A, Leeds United are the only club to table an offer so far. It is believed to be another loan deal, with Marcelo Bielsa looking to add cover for striker Patrick Bamford.
Leeds have a decent enough lineup upfront heading into the new season. Bamford remains Bielsa’s preferred choice to lead the line for Leeds. Tyler Roberts and last summer’s big signing, Rodrigo Moreno, can cover for Bamford. However, Bielsa wants a player similar to Bamford, and Gaich fits the bill.
The transfer window still has time before it shuts, but the Premier League season starts next weekend, and Bielsa wants his squad to be prepared beforehand. The Whites are in the market for other players as well. Lewis O’Brien is the latest to be linked with a move from Huddersfield Town.
Bielsa is also looking hard at Maxwel Cornet of Lyon after reports emerged of his availability while stories are also linking Leeds to Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara. Things will be clearer as to who the Leeds sign in the coming days, although their interest in Gaich is reportedly genuine.
The Argentine forward will have to consider his options seriously. Right now, with Leeds in the frame, the 22-year-old can come to England and get integrated within Bielsa’s squad. However, there are chances he might wait on for one of the Serie A clubs to make an offer in the coming days and possibly delay his decision on Leeds.
